Vision Techniques getting 'on their bike' at upcoming PAWRS show

Vision Techniques will be giving interactive demonstrations of their latest cyclist safety product 'VT TurnAware' at this years' PAWRS event in Paignton.

The Blackburn based vehicle safety experts will be suiting up with high visibility jackets and pedalling to promote cyclist safety with the team biking around their brand new exhibition vehicle to prove that their new camera system is able to detect approaching cyclists.

VT TurnAware is a cyclist detection system which uses video analytics to detect any hazard approaching the vehicle. When a cyclist approaches, the hardware is able to detect the movement of the cyclist using blind spot mounted cameras. Once detected, TurnAware warns the driver visibly by highlighting the danger on a monitor and audibly with onboard speakers.

VT TurnAware is also able to distinguish the difference between approaching cyclists, other vehicles nearby and road furniture like signposts and bollards, eliminating all false alarming. Existing Systems like ultrasonic sensors often fail to determine the difference between these hazards which leads to driver overloading and safety systems being disconnected from frustration.

"We think the new VT TurnAware is very much the evolution to side mounted ultrasonics. As well as preventing false alarming it also gives the driver a clear view of any approaching danger, which ultrasonics simply can't do." Marketing Manager Dominic Benabda explained, who will be demonstrating the system from the brand new exhibition vehicle at this years' event.

"So far we've achieved impressive statistics with the overall detection of hazards with VT TurnAware. We think seeing is believing, which is why we'll be bringing a bike along to the stand."

The video analytics system is proving to be very popular with existing customers, however Vision Techniques will be looking for customers interested in running free trials in the new technology within different industries and environments.

The system will be demonstrated alongside brand new additions to their product lines including VT Ident DriveStop, an RFID vehicle control system and VT TurnSign, their completely tailorable illuminated cyclist sign.

Vision Techniques will be exhibiting at this years' PAWRS show alongside their OWL partners CMS SupaTrak as part of the OWL Innovation zone, dedicated to offering combined solutions within the waste industry.
